Factors Affecting Bandwidth Usage
Several factors influence how much bandwidth you use when streaming videos. The amount will vary based on:
Video resolution: Higher resolutions consume more bandwidth.
Watch time: The longer a viewer watches, the more bandwidth is used.
However, Vidalytics transcodes your videos to ensure they are fully optimized for all devices and browsers, providing an efficient streaming experience.
Bandwidth Usage Estimation
As a general rule of thumb, most users will use approximately 60MB of bandwidth per video play.
If you want to measure real-time bandwidth usage for a specific viewer, follow these steps:
Navigate to the page where your video is hosted.
Open the developer console in your browser.
Switch to the Network tab.
Filter for “vidalytics” requests only.
Check the number at the bottom of the Network tab.
This will give you an estimate of the bandwidth usage for that session. Keep in mind that different users may experience variations based on their connection speeds.
Optimized Streaming with Vidalytics
To minimize bandwidth usage without compromising quality, Vidalytics employs:
Adaptive Bitrate Streaming: Ensures efficient bandwidth usage by adjusting video quality based on the viewer’s internet speed.
Per Title Encoding: An AI-driven process that reduces video size while maintaining high-quality playback.
What Happens If You Exceed Your Bandwidth Limit?
If you surpass your bandwidth allocation, your videos will continue to play seamlessly. However, any excess usage will incur additional charges per GB.
