Vidalytics MCP — Manage Your Videos by Talking to Your AI

How to use the Vidalytics MCP connector to manage your video library from Claude, Cursor, or Windsurf — without opening the dashboard.

The Vidalytics MCP connector lets you manage your videos by simply asking your AI assistant. Instead of opening the Vidalytics dashboard for routine updates, you can publish settings, duplicate videos, create CTAs, set thumbnails, and more — all from Claude, Cursor, or Windsurf in plain English.

Availability & Restrictions

  • Available on Premium and Enterprise plans
  • Uses your existing Public API quota — no separate MCP fee or additional credits
  • Sub-users need the Manage API permission enabled to use MCP
  • Supported clients: Claude Desktop/CLI, Cursor, Windsurf

What You Can Do With MCP

Here is a full overview of what is currently supported:

Not currently supported via MCP:

  • Deleting a video, CTA, or folder
  • Editing raw player settings field by field
  • Creating or editing pause screens
  • Uploading a thumbnail from a local file
  • Running Settings Experiments

Note: For anything not supported in MCP, use the Vidalytics dashboard as usual.

How to Get Started 

Install MCP — run the following command in your terminal:

npx @vidalytics/mcp install

Restart your MCP client — after installation, restart Claude Desktop, Cursor, or Windsurf.

Authenticate — complete the OAuth flow on first use to connect your Vidalytics account.

Start prompting — that's it. You can now manage your videos by talking to your AI.

Note: If MCP asks you to log in again or fails to connect, delete ~/.mcp-auth and restart your client, then complete the OAuth flow again.

How Key Actions Work

Publishing Asking your AI to publish a video publishes any pending draft settings — exactly the same as clicking Publish in Vid Settings. It does not upload a new file or create a new video entry.

Duplicating When you ask your AI to duplicate a video, a new published copy is created in your library immediately, ready to edit. This is not the same as Settings Experiments — duplicates are separate library entries.

Applying a Settings Template When you apply a settings template, the settings are applied to the video. Your AI will confirm whether you want to publish immediately or hold the changes as a draft.

CTAs You can create new CTAs or update existing ones — timing, URL, and copy. Pause screens are read-only in MCP. Deleting CTAs is not supported.

Thumbnails You can set a thumbnail from a public image URL, from a specific frame in the video, or restore the default thumbnail. Uploading a thumbnail from a local file is not currently supported.

Folders You can create folders, including nested ones. Renaming or deleting folders is not currently supported in MCP.
