How to Tag Your Video Viewers in Your CRM Using Zapier

This guide walks you through connecting Vidalytics to your CRM or email platform via Zapier so that viewer interactions — like reaching a specific watch point or clicking a CTA — automatically update contact records and trigger follow-up sequences. We are using ActiveCampaign as the example, but the same setup works with any CRM or email platform supported by Zapier.

Before You Start

Make sure you have already enabled the Zapier integration in your Vidalytics account. If you have not done that yet, see How to Set Up the Zapier Integration first.

Step 1 — Create a Tag on Your Video 

Open your video settings — go to the video you want to set up tagging for, open the Marketing tab, and navigate to the Tags section.

Create a new tag — click Create New Tag and configure the following:

• Trigger condition — choose when the tag should fire, such as when a viewer reaches a specific timestamp or percentage of the video
• Field name — enter the field name that Vidalytics will use to identify the viewer and pass the data through. The most common field is email — make sure the name matches exactly what is being passed through your URL

Save and publish — click Save and then Publish your video for the tag to go live. Your tag will now generate an event in Zapier every time a viewer meets the trigger condition.

Step 2 — Set Up Your Zap in Zapier 

Create a new Zap — in Zapier, click Make a Zap.

Set Vidalytics as your trigger — search for Vidalytics and select it as the trigger app. Choose New User Video Event (or the similarly labeled trigger available in your account).

Connect your Vidalytics account — authenticate your account when prompted.

Test the trigger — run a test to confirm Zapier is receiving tag events from Vidalytics correctly before moving to the next step.

Step 3 — Configure Your CRM Action

Add your action app — select ActiveCampaign (or your CRM of choice) as the action app.

Choose your action — select Add/Remove Tag From Contact to tag an existing contact based on the viewer event. Alternatively you can use:

• Create or Update Contact — to add new viewers as contacts automatically
• Add Contact to List — to place viewers into a specific list based on their engagement
• Create a Deal — to trigger sales pipeline actions based on video interactions

Authenticate your CRM — connect your ActiveCampaign account using your API URL and key (or the equivalent for your platform).

Map your fields — configure the action using the data coming from your Vidalytics trigger:

• Set the contact identifier using the email or ID field from the Vidalytics event
• Choose which tag to apply based on the specific video condition that fired

Example: Add the tag "Watched 50%" to a contact whenever a viewer reaches the halfway point of your video.

Step 4 — Test and Activate

Test your Zap end to end — trigger the tag event by watching the video past the condition point, then confirm the action fires correctly in your CRM.

Turn on your Zap — once the test passes, activate the Zap. Monitor your CRM contacts over the next few sessions to confirm tags are being applied as expected.
