Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode lets your viewers keep watching your video in a compact floating mini-player while they browse, read, shop, or fill out a form on the same page. The video moves with them — without ever leaving the page.
Note: PiP is an in-page mini-player. It stays within the page where your video is embedded and does not pop out into a separate browser window or follow the viewer to other tabs or apps.
Availability & Restrictions
- Available on all plans
- Works on both desktop and mobile browsers
- Interface text ("Video is currently playing in small window," "Action required. Click to resume in full view.") is currently in English only
How to Enable PiP
- Go to your Video Settings
- Click the Style tab
- Locate the Picture in Picture section
- Toggle on Picture in Picture Mode — this is the master switch that enables the feature and shows the PiP button on your player
Two additional toggles are available once PiP is enabled (both are off by default):
- Auto Enable on Scroll — automatically opens PiP when the player scrolls out of the viewer's view, after it has already been visible on screen
- Auto Return to Player — when an element requiring viewer interaction appears (such as a Play Gate or Smart Vid branch question), PiP automatically returns the viewer to the full player and scrolls them to it.
How it Works for Your Viewers
Once PiP is enabled on your video, here is what your viewers can do:
- Click the PiP button in the player controls to pop the video into a floating mini-player — or, if Auto Enable on Scroll is on, simply scroll past the player and PiP opens automatically
- Drag the mini-player anywhere on the page and resize it as needed
- Control playback from the mini-player: play/pause, volume, seek bar, and captions
- Exit PiP in one of two ways:
- Collapse (PiP icon in the bottom-right of the control bar) — returns to the full player and keeps the video playing
- Close (the × in the top-right corner) — returns to the full player and pauses the video
Note: While PiP is active, the video's original position on the page will show a placeholder that reads "Video is currently playing in small window."
Tip: Collapsing or closing PiP does not scroll the page — your viewer stays exactly where they are.
What Works Inside the Mini-Player
The following features work normally inside the PiP mini-player:
- Smart Autoplay (click-to-unmute)
- Resume Play
- Countdown Timers
- Rapid Engage Bar
- Captions (including while the video is muted)
The following features are not available inside the mini-player and will return the viewer to the full player:
- Play Gates
- Smart Vid branch questions
- Clickable Areas
- E-commerce elements
When one of these elements appears, the viewer is returned to the full in-page player and scrolled to it automatically. If Auto Return to Player is enabled, this happens automatically. If it is off, the viewer will see an overlay with an "Open Full View" button they can click to return to the full player.
Multiple Videos on One Page
Only one video can be in PiP at a time. If a second video enters PiP, the first video's mini-player closes and it pauses in its original position on the page.
PiP and Fullscreen
If your video is in fullscreen, clicking the PiP button will exit fullscreen and switch to PiP mode.
