How to Set Up a Smart Vid 

Understanding the Canvas

The canvas is your Smart Vid's visual command center. It shows all the video steps in your flow and the connections between them. You can zoom in and out, or drag to navigate around your flow.

The "Play" icon marks the beginning of your flow. From the canvas, you can open settings, preview, and delete steps directly.

Initial Setup 

1. Navigate to apps.vidalytics.com/dashboard

2. Click Smart Vids on the left-hand menu

3. Click "New Smart Vid"

4. A pop-up will appear — type in your Smart Vid title and select the video that will serve as the starting point for your flow

Interactive Global Settings 

You can access the global settings directly from the canvas, or while editing any step in your flow.

1. Click the cog icon at the top right of the screen

2. From here, edit the overall settings that will apply to all videos in your Smart Vid:

   • Video Startup Quality

   • Thumbnails

   • Controls

   • Smart Autoplay

   • Smart Pause

   • Video Expiration

3. Make all the changes you need, then close the sidebar

4. Remember to Publish your changes for them to go live

Add Interactions in Step Settings 

Interactions are the core of Smart Vids. They drive the flow by presenting viewers with choices — either through a question with selectable answers, or through a clickable area directly on the video itself.

To set up interactions, hover over any video step on the canvas and click the edit (pen) icon to open its Step Settings. Once inside, you will see two interaction types you can add on the Interactive tab:

Option 1 — Question

Click the Question button to present your viewer with a prompt and up to four answer choices, each leading to a different next video step.

In the Question settings panel, you can configure:

• Question text — the prompt or question you want to present to your viewer

• Answer choices — up to four options, each linked to the next video step in that path

• Display time — when the choices appear during the video

• Countdown timer — optionally limit the time viewers have to select an answer

• Theme settings — colors and styles for your question overlay

Option 2 — Interactive Area

Click the Interactive Area button to make a specific region of your video clickable — no question overlay needed. This is great for things like clickable buttons, products, or visual prompts already present in your video itself.

In the Interactive Area settings panel, you can configure:

• Clickable area — select and position the area on the video you want to make clickable

• Display time — set the specific time at which the interactive area becomes active on the video

• Link or next step — define what happens when a viewer clicks the area

Adding Tags to Your Smart Vid 

Tags allow you to pass viewer engagement data from your Smart Vid directly into your CRM or email platform — so your follow-up marketing reflects exactly what each viewer watched.

Timed Tags are triggered when a viewer reaches a specific moment in a video. To set them up:

1. Open the video editor for the step you want to tag

2. Locate the 'Timed Tags' option

3. Choose the exact timestamp of the video where you want the tag to fire

4. Name the tag descriptively to reflect viewer engagement at that moment

5. Set the correct Field (such as email) so Vidalytics can identify the viewer and pass that information through the entire flow

6. Click Save

Smart Vid Stats 

Smart Vids include powerful built-in stats, giving you a clear picture of how viewers are moving through your flow — step by step.

From the canvas, you can access Stats directly to see:

• Drop-off by step — see exactly where viewers are leaving your flow, on each individual video

• Most popular paths — understand which answer choices and branches your viewers are gravitating toward

• Answer distribution — see how many viewers selected each answer on every question

• Video engagement per step — track how each video in your flow is performing individually

This data is especially powerful when combined with Timed Tags — you can follow specific viewer segments all the way through your flow and into your CRM, giving you a complete picture from the first video to the final conversion.

Preview Your Smart Vid 

You can preview your Smart Vid from three places:

1. From the canvas — hover over any step and click "Preview from this step"

2. From a step's settings — click the play button at the top right of the screen while inside any step

3. Full Smart Vid preview — from the main canvas, click the play icon at the top right to preview the entire flow from the beginning
