Removing a step from your Smart Vid is straightforward, but it is worth understanding what happens to your flow when a step is deleted — especially if that step is already connected to others.
How to Delete a Step
Open your Smart Vid — log in to your Vidalytics account, locate Smart Vids in the left-side menu, and open the Smart Vid you want to edit.
Delete the step — hover over the step card you want to remove on the canvas. Click the trash can icon that appears to delete it.
That's it — the step is removed and your canvas updates immediately.
What Happens to Your Flow
Deleting a step is permanent and cannot be undone. Before you delete, it is worth taking a moment to understand how it will affect the rest of your flow:
- If the deleted step was connected to other steps — either as a destination or as a source — those connections will be broken. Your flow will need to be reviewed and reconnected manually
- Any viewer paths that previously led to the deleted step will no longer have a destination, which means your Smart Vid flow could be incomplete until you fix it
- The canvas will update automatically after deletion, so you will be able to see right away which connections need to be addressed
Important: Deleting a step cannot be undone. Once it is gone, it cannot be restored. Make sure you are certain before confirming the deletion — and double-check that all remaining steps are properly connected before republishing your Smart Vid.
Tip: Before deleting a step, take a quick look at which steps are connected to it on the canvas. Reconnecting your flow before deleting is much easier than rebuilding connections after the fact.
