This guide will walk you through how to enable micro conversion tracking inside Vidalytics, using either Facebook or Google Tag Manager. Both options are quite similar in setup, so let's begin with Facebook and then cover Google Tag Manager.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Setting Up Facebook Micro Conversion Tracking

Overview: With Facebook integration, Vidalytics can pass video watch data directly into your Facebook Ads account. This allows you to create retargeting audiences based on video engagement events, such as video views by percentage.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to the Integration Settings in the Vidalytics app:

    • Log into your Vidalytics account and go to the video settings for the video you want to track.

    • Click on the Integration tab where you’ll see options for different tracking tools.

  2. Select Facebook Integration:

    • Under the Facebook section, make sure the Enable Facebook Integration box is checked.

  3. Configure the Tracking Events:

    • Choose the percentage of video watched that you want to track. You can select intervals like:

      • Every 1%

      • Every 5%

      • 5%, 10%, 25%, and so on

    • Check the box for each event you want to track (e.g. Play event, Pause event, etc).

  4. Save Your Settings:

    • Once you’ve selected the percentages and any other preferences, hit Save.

What Happens Next?

  • After saving, Vidalytics will use the existing Facebook pixel on your page to send data to Facebook Ads. This data will notify Facebook of each event (e.g., 1%, 5%, 10% watched), which you can use for retargeting and audience building in your ad campaigns.

2. Setting Up Google Tag Manager Micro Conversion Tracking

Overview: The setup for Google Tag Manager (GTM) is very similar to Facebook. Instead of sending data to Facebook, Vidalytics will trigger Tag Manager events based on video engagement.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to the Integration Settings:

    • Open the Integration tab in your Vidalytics account.

  2. Select Google Tag Manager Integration:

    • Under the Google Tag Manager section, check the box to enable GTM integration.

  3. Configure the Tracking Events:

    • Just like with Facebook, select the percentage milestones you want to track (e.g., 5%, 10%, 25%).

    • Enable tracking for each interval you want data for.

  4. Save Your Settings:

    • Once configured, click Save.

What Happens Next?

  • Vidalytics will trigger events inside Google Tag Manager based on the video milestones you selected. You can then set up custom tags or triggers within GTM to manage how you use this data for analytics or marketing automation.

By following these steps, you can begin tracking micro conversions through Vidalytics using either Facebook or Google Tag Manager. This data can be highly valuable for building retargeting audiences, analyzing video performance, and optimizing your campaigns.
