Email Embed allows you to generate eye-catching video thumbnails (JPG or GIF) with an automatic play button overlay and embed them directly into your email campaigns.
Instead of sending plain text links, you can add a professional-looking video preview that links directly to your video or landing page — increasing clicks and engagement from your email list.
This feature is accessible via Vid Settings → Embed → Email Embed.
What It Does
Email Embed generates a ready-to-use thumbnail of your video that:
Displays a branded play button overlay
Links to your chosen destination URL
Is optimized for fast loading in email clients
Can be downloaded or copied with embed-ready code
Because most email providers do not support inline video playback, this method ensures recipients click through to your optimized video page instead.
How to Use Email Embed
Generate Your Email Thumbnail
Open your video in Vid Settings.
Click Embed.
Select the Email Embed tab.
Choose your thumbnail type:
JPG (default) – pulled from your static thumbnail or first video frame
GIF – generated from your animated thumbnail, or first 10 seconds of the video
Adjust thumbnail size (default max 450px, aspect ratio preserved).
Confirm or update the link destination:
Defaults to your video preview URL
Can be changed to any landing page
Preview the thumbnail (file size is displayed).
Download the image or copy the image/code to clipboard.
Paste into your email editor (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.).
Benefits
Increase Click-Through Rates: Video thumbnails stand out in inboxes and attract more engagement.
Save Design Time: No need for external tools to create thumbnails.
Professional Branding: Play button overlay matches your player style automatically.
Flexible Linking: Send users directly to your video preview or a custom landing page.
Email-Client Friendly: Works across nearly all email providers.
Customization Options
Switch between JPG and GIF at any time.
Adjust size (within actual video dimensions).
Change destination URL anytime.
Play button overlay automatically matches your player style.
GIF auto-generates if not already created.
System Rules & Limitations
Maximum thumbnail dimension defaults to 450px (optimized for loading).
If selected size exceeds video frame size, it resets to valid maximum.
JPG uses static thumbnail.
GIF uses animated thumbnail or first 10 seconds of video.
GIF generation may take a few seconds.
Files are automatically compressed/optimized.
Note:
These are not supported:
Uploading external custom thumbnails.
Inline video playback inside email clients.
Editing GIF beyond first 10 seconds (unless animated thumbnail is set).
Edge Cases & Expected Behavior
If GIF isn’t generated yet, system auto-generates it.
If video resolution is smaller than 450px, real dimensions are used.
Oversized manual size selections snap back to valid maximum.
Large GIFs are automatically compressed.
Placeholder appears while GIF is generating.
Copy-to-clipboard works in most major email clients (Gmail, Apple Mail), but not guaranteed in all editors.
