Default Playback Speed Control
learn about the default speed control setup
You now have the power to set a default playback speed for your videos (e.g. 0.5×, 1×, 1.1×, 1.2×, up to 2×). This means when viewers open the video, it starts at your chosen speed — applied live to all viewers, with no need for page reloads or re-embedding.
This gives you the flexibility to tailor the viewing experience to your content and audience.
How to Use It
-
Go to the Vid Settings for the video you wish to adjust.
-
Locate the Default Playback Speed option (often in the player settings or video configuration area).
-
Select your desired default rate (e.g. 0.5×, 1×, 1.25×, 1.5×, 2×).
-
Save your changes.
-
The default speed is now active — all viewers will see the video play at that rate by default.
Because the update applies in real time, there’s no need to republish or re-embed the video.
Benefits
-
Customized Viewing Experience – Choose the optimal speed for your content (faster for reviews or slower for detail-heavy material).
-
Boost Engagement – Some audiences prefer slightly accelerated playback; others need a slower pace. You control what viewers experience by default.
-
Consistency Across Viewers – Everyone sees the same starting speed, so your messaging and pacing stay consistent.
-
No Technical Overhead – No re-embedding or page reload required — changes apply immediately.
Use Cases
-
Training & Tutorials – Use 1.5× speed for experienced viewers, or slower for complex demonstrations.
-
Product Overviews / Demos – Start at a slightly faster speed to maintain attention.
-
Review & Recap Videos – Default to a higher speed since viewers likely already know the content.
-
Slow-Paced Content (e.g. storytelling, interviews) – Use 0.75× or 1× to preserve pacing.
